Obverse description Central Latin cross with a pellet or globule at the centre and small annulets or pellets placed in each of the four angles, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A retrograde or irregular circular legend in debased Latin characters surrounds the inner circle in the outer field, consistent with the crude epigraphy typical of late tenth-century Bavarian hammered coinage.
