Obverse description Facing or slightly turned bust of Emperor Henry II, rendered in the stylized Ottonian manner characteristic of early eleventh-century imperial coinage, with elaborate striated hair rising above the crown and a visible diadem. The effigy is depicted in a bold, archaic style with strong linear features. The surrounding legend, partially visible on the irregular flan, reads HEIMIRICVS IMAT, identifying the issuer as Emperor Henry. The field around the bust is plain, and the coin's irregular flan edge results in portions of the legend being off-flan.
