| Obverse description | Facing bust of Emperor Henry II, crowned with a beaded crown, rendered in the flat, schematic style characteristic of Ottonian-Salian coinage. The imperial effigy displays a frontal face with stylized features, beaded collar, and draped shoulders. The legend ENIRIC RIX (a contracted form of Heinricus Rex) runs partially around the periphery of the flan, distributed irregularly due to the hammered technique. The relief is bold despite the irregular planchet, and the overall composition reflects the workshop conventions of the Salzburg mint in the early eleventh century. |
