Reverse description The reverse presents a large bold cross dividing the field into four quarters, each containing geometric or letteral elements rendered in the angular, stylized manner characteristic of Aquitainian feudal issues. The circumferential Latin legend AQVI TANI E, introduced by a cross, is distributed around the periphery within a beaded border. The overall composition is typical of the denier aquitain of Henry II Plantagenet as Duke of Aquitaine, with the inscription deliberately spaced to fill the available flan.
