| Obverse description | Crude facing portrait of King Henri I within a beaded inner circle, rendered in the schematic Romanesque style typical of early Capetian coinage. The effigy displays a frontal face with stylized facial features, surrounded by a beaded or rope border. The circular Latin legend EINRCVS IRX (Henricus Rex) runs around the periphery, introduced by a cross pattee. The overall design is characteristic of 11th-century French hammered silver, with bold but irregular relief. |
