| Reverse description | A short cross pattee occupies the centre of the coin, with arms of equal length that broaden toward their tips, set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend reads SIGNVM : CRVS, the abbreviated Latin formula for 'Sign of the Cross', separated by a colon punctuation mark. The cross is boldly struck relative to the small flan, and the hammered technique results in slight irregularity in the flan shape and depth of relief. The overall style is consistent with other Flemish deniers of the late 13th and early 14th centuries. |
