Reverse description A stylised heraldic lily (fleur-de-lis) occupies the central field, its three lobes rendered in a schematic Romanesque manner, with a small annulet placed in each of the four quarters flanking the motif. The central device is contained within a beaded inner circle, outside of which runs the circumferential legend DVX BRITANI, preceded by a cross, identifying the issuer as Duke of Brittany. The entire type is struck on a broadly irregular billon flan typical of 12th-century feudal coinage.
