Reverse description A large pattée-style cross dominates the central field, with splayed arms of roughly equal length set within a beaded inner circle. The cross is boldly struck and characteristic of the episcopal coinage of the Bishopric of Meaux during the 11th century. A small cross pattée appears at the top of the legend as an initial marker. The surrounding Latin legend, partially legible due to the irregular flan and die wear, identifies the city of Meaux as the place of issue. The coin exhibits the typical characteristics of hammered billon coinage, with a roughly circular but uneven flan.
