| Obverse description | Central cross pattée with a small crosslet ornament in each of the four angles, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic lettering, reads the name of the issuing lord, Gaucher Adhemar. The design is characteristic of feudal French billon coinage of the mid-fourteenth century, with a bold, well-defined cross dominating the field. |
