Obverse description Central field displays a plain Greek cross within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by an outer border of stylized foliate and scroll ornaments radiating toward the irregular coin edge. The design is entirely decorative with no legend. The cross arms are bold and evenly proportioned, characteristic of the Nuremberg bracteate-influenced pfennig tradition of the early 13th century. The surface exhibits the slightly uneven relief typical of hammered coinage of the period.
