Reverse description A bold Latin cross occupies the central field, with a pellet or globule placed in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross, a design characteristic of Lübeck coinage of the Frederick I period. The cross is contained within a beaded inner circle, with a partial Latin legend dispersed around the outer border. The hammered flan imparts an irregular, uneven relief to the device.
