Obverse description Central field features a Carolingian monogram composed of the letter R surmounted by a cross, forming a chrismonic device enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding annular legend reads FR ✠ HODO REX FRAN, denoting Franco and King Odo of the Franks, separated by a cross pattée. The outer border consists of a continuous row of beads punctuated by small cross pattées alternating around the entire circumference, a characteristic decorative feature of Carolingian ecclesiastical coinage.
