Obverse description Central field occupied by the arms of Savoy — a plain cross on a shield — rendered in Gothic heraldic style. Four small annulets are positioned around the shield, one at each cardinal point, serving as decorative or differencing marks. The shield is enclosed within a plain inner circle bordered by a beaded inner ring. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters runs between the inner ring and the irregular outer edge of the flan.
