Obverse description Full-length effigy of Ermesinde, Countess of Luxembourg (r. 1196–1247), depicted standing in profile facing left, her right hand raised and holding a fleur-de-lis sceptre. The figure is rendered in the flat, linear style characteristic of early medieval hammered coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with a circular legend running along the outer rim.
