Obverse description Bust of Archbishop Egilbert facing right in high relief, depicted in episcopal vestments with a crozier visible to one side, rendered in the bold and somewhat schematic Romanesque style typical of late 11th-century Rhenish ecclesiastical coinage. The figure occupies the central field of the irregularly shaped hammered flan. The surrounding legend reads GIELBERTVS ARCHIEPS, identifying the issuing prelate. The die work reflects the relatively crude but vigorous craftsmanship characteristic of workshop production at the Koblenz mint during this period.
