Reverse description A plain cross pattée occupies the central field, rendered in bold raised relief with slightly flared arms, set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding circular legend in uncial Latin reads DVX AQVITANIE, proclaiming Edward III's title as Duke of Aquitaine. An outer border of stylized lis or pellet ornaments frames the design, consistent with Gascon feudal coinage of the period. The flan is irregular with minor edge cracks, and the strike is moderately weak in places, typical of hand-hammered billon deniers of the fourteenth century.
