Reverse description A bold long cross with plain, unornamented arms extending to the beaded inner circle, dividing the reverse field into four equal quarters. Small fleurs-de-lis or pellets appear in the angles between the cross arms, characteristic of Gascon denier types. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin reads DVX AQIT BVRDE, proclaiming Edward's title as Duke of Aquitaine and identifying the mint city of Bordeaux. The flan edge is irregular and clipped in places, typical of hammered billon coinage of the period.
