Obverse description Facing bust of an archbishop rendered in a primitive Romanesque style, depicted with a mitre or ecclesiastical headdress, occupying the central field. The facial features are summarily struck, with large eyes and a broad nose characteristic of 12th-century hammered coinage. A small patriarchal or processional cross appears to the right of the bust. The irregular flan and weak areas of strike are typical of mid-12th-century Salzburg pfennigs.
