Obverse description A central cross pattée divides the inner field into four quarters, each cantoned with an initial letter forming the abbreviated inscription E-P-S-S, referencing the archbishop's title. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the archiepiscopal legend disposed around the outer field. The hammered flan exhibits the characteristic irregular roundness of early medieval Germanic coinage, with bold lettering in the Carolingian epigraphic tradition.
