| Obverse description | Crude hammered silver denier of irregular flan presenting a stylized cross or ecclesiastical motif in the central field, rendered in the rough, primitive style characteristic of Catalan feudal coinage of the late eleventh and early twelfth centuries. The design elements are boldly struck but unevenly distributed across the flan, with areas of weakness consistent with hand-hammered production. The surrounding field is flat and unadorned, framing the central device. The Latin legend BISILDVNO, referring to Besalú, runs around the periphery, partially visible due to flan limitations. The overall style reflects the workshop traditions of the Besalú mint under Count Bernard III. |
