Obverse description Central annulus enclosed within an inner beaded circle (grenetis), around which radiate stylized letter-forms and decorative elements in the field. The legend, composed of uncial characters, encircles the design within the outer border. The overall style is characteristic of Carolingian-influenced hammered coinage of the Kingdom of Arles, with irregular flan and bold, somewhat crude letter cutting.
