Obverse description Central cross composed of a beaded vertical bar intersecting a twisted rope-style horizontal bar, dividing the field into four quarters, each containing a curved wedge motif and pellet ornaments in the angles. The overall design is characteristic of early Hungarian hammered coinage, with a rope-bordered inner field and a beaded outer rim encircling the entire composition. The Latin legend + CALMAN RE (for Colomanus Rex) runs around the periphery. The style reflects the Romanesque die-cutting tradition of the early Árpád-dynasty mint.
