Obverse description Two-line Latin legend arranged horizontally across the field, divided by a central horizontal bar, with a small cross pattée above the upper legend line and a second cross pattée below the lower legend line, the whole referencing the dedication to Saint Mary. The lettering is rendered in bold, somewhat rustic relief characteristic of early medieval episcopal coinage. A beaded inner border encircles the design, with the coin's irregular flan displaying typical hammered fabric.
