Obverse description Stylized facing or profile head in the characteristic bléso-chartraine tradition, flanked by pellets in the field. A rosette — the principal heraldic device of this issue — appears prominently in the center of the type, while a fleur-de-lis is placed below the bust. The design is rendered in the flat, schematic style typical of feudal French hammered billon coinage of the late 13th to early 14th century. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle.
