(Translation: By the grace of God, King.)
Reverse description Central device consists of a plain Latin cross with broad arms extending nearly to an inner beaded circle, dividing the central field into four quadrants. The cross is boldly struck in high relief, characteristic of Carolingian denier coinage. An inner beaded circle encloses the cross, and beyond it the circumferential mint legend is arranged in capital Latin letters around the periphery of the flan. The coin exhibits the typical irregular, slightly clipped flan of hammered ninth-century West Frankish silver, with moderate die wear visible across the fields.
