Reverse description A plain long cross with equal arms occupies the central field, contained within a beaded inner circle. The arms of the cross extend nearly to the beaded border, dividing the inner field into four quadrants. The surrounding legend ✠ CONDΛTO MONETΛ, reading clockwise, identifies the mint as Condé-sur-l'Escaut, running between the beaded circle and the outer rim. The flan edges are irregular and show the characteristic planishing marks of hammered Carolingian coinage.
