| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a monogram composed of the letters K, R, and F arranged in a cruciform design, abbreviating KAROLVS REX FRANCORVM (Charles, King of the Franks). A small cross pattée appears above the monogram, and a second decorative cross is positioned to the right, accompanied by pellets distributed across the field. The design is executed in bold raised relief characteristic of early Carolingian hammered coinage. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner border. |
