| Obverse description | Frontal bust of Saint Maurice, the patron saint of Magdeburg, depicted in military attire with a nimbus, flanked by two patriarchal crosses in the field. Above the figure rises an elaborate architectural composition featuring three domed towers with Romanesque detailing, symbolising the Magdeburg cathedral. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, and a partial Latin legend surrounds the composition. The engraving style is characteristic of 12th-century German bracteate coinage, with bold relief on the single-sided thin silver flan. |
