Obverse description Frontal bust of Archbishop Werner of Eppstein wearing a mitra bicornis (two-horned mitre), rendered in shallow bracteate relief, enclosed within three concentric beaded circles. The outer border is adorned with 23 small crosses evenly distributed around the circumference. The effigy is stylised in the Romanesque manner typical of mid-13th-century episcopal bracteates from the Middle Rhine region. No legend is present; identification is established through heraldic and typological attribution to Werner of Eppstein (Archbishop of Mainz, 1259–1284).
