Additional information

Wenceslaus I ruled Bohemia during a period of intensive German colonization actively encouraged by the crown, and his bracteate issues reflect the broader monetary reforms that accompanied this demographic transformation. Thin, single-sided bracteates were already archaic in much of Europe by the mid-thirteenth century, making Bohemia's continued reliance on the form a deliberate regional conservatism rather than a technical limitation.

Cach 720 is among the more precisely attributed types in the bracteate sequence for this reign, which itself spans over two decades of production and considerable die variation.
