Obverse description Frontal bust of a bishop, crowned and nimbed, shown to waist within a plain inner circle. The figure raises the right hand in benediction and holds a crozier in the left hand, its curved head visible to the left of the bust. The ecclesiastical vestments are rendered in stylized low relief typical of 13th-century German bracteate coinage. The entire design is surrounded by a beaded or rope-pattern border following the irregular flan edge.
