Obverse description Half-length frontal effigy of a bishop wearing a mitra, rendered in a stylized Romanesque manner. The figure holds a lily-headed staff in the left hand, while a tower or architectural element appears to the right of the figure. The face is depicted in a schematic, hieratic style typical of 13th-century German bracteate coinage. The entire design is set within a beaded inner circle, itself enclosed by a lobed outer border pressed into the thin silver flan.
