Obverse description Emperor Otto IV enthroned facing, depicted in full regalia, holding a cross-tipped staff in one hand and a lily scepter adorned with two rings in the other. The figure is flanked by ornamental devices positioned to either side at knee level. The design is contained within a double beaded border. Typical of Altenburg bracteate coinage, the image is struck in relief on a single thin flan in the characteristic Germanic bracteate tradition.
