Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of the Margrave clad in chain mail armor, holding an upright sword in his right hand and a banner or flag in his left, flanked on either side by a stylized tower or turret; the figure is rendered in high relief characteristic of bracteate coinage, with bold, archaic modeling of the facial features and armored body. The composition fills the broad, thin flan typical of late 12th-century North German bracteates, with no legend present.

Reverse description Incuse mirror image of the obverse design, as is inherent to the single-die bracteate striking technique, showing the raised elements of the obverse in negative relief. The reverse surface is otherwise plain and uninscribed.
