Obverse description Single-sided bracteate struck in thin silver. The central field displays a composite heraldic device comprising an eagle displayed to the left alongside a fortified tower or castle element, the two motifs separated by a vertical beaded line. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which runs a border of stylised pseudo-legend composed of ornamental letter-like elements and pellets, characteristic of the bracteate coinage of Mieszko III the Old. A decorative foliate or fleur-de-lis finial surmounts the central device at twelve o'clock. The overall execution is bold but irregular, consistent with hammered provincial die work of late twelfth-century Greater Poland.
