| Obverse description | Three small adjacent heraldic shields arranged side by side in the central field, struck in the bracteate manner with shallow relief. The initial 'I' (for Johann/John I) appears above the shields, flanked by pellets on either side, serving as the sole inscription. The irregular flan edge is characteristic of hammered bracteate production of the late sixteenth century. The overall design is austere and utilitarian, consistent with small-denomination coinage of the Palatinate-Zweibrücken duchy. |
