Additional information

Jakza von Köpenick — also rendered Jacza de Copnic — was a Slavic prince who seized Berlin-Köpenick from Albert the Bear of Brandenburg around 1157, triggering a prolonged conflict over control of the Havel and Spree river territories. This bracteate was struck during that contested occupation, making it one of the few surviving material records of his rule. The Duchy of Kopanica existed as an independent polity for barely a decade before Albert reasserted control, which explains the extreme rarity of issues attributable to Jakza's authority.
