| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a heraldic lion passant to the left, depicted in a stylized Romanesque manner with a ribbed or striated body, raised forepaw, and curling tail. Two annulets with central pellets flank the lion in the field, one to the left and one to the upper right. The design is enclosed by a plain raised border, with the characteristic thin, dome-like relief of bracteate coinage pressed from a single die. |
