| Obverse description | A rampant lion passant facing right, rendered in bold relief within a raised inner circle, characteristic of the bracteate hammered technique. The lion is depicted with curling tail and forepaws raised, the mane suggested by granulated pellets at the neck. Four letters of the legend — A, M, E, N — are disposed individually in the four quadrants of the outer border, separated by the inner beaded ring. The overall design reflects the bold, stylized heraldic idiom of 13th-century German bracteate coinage. |
