Reverse description As a bracteate, this coin is single-sided with a uniface strike; the reverse presents the incuse mirror image of the obverse design, showing the Brunswick lion passant in intaglio relief as an impression of the obverse die, with the characteristic thin, fragile fabric typical of bracteate coinage. The surface is unadorned and unlettered, with a slightly irregular flan edge reflecting hand-cut preparation of the planchet.
