| Obverse description | Facing schematic bust of the emperor, crowned, emerging from behind a stylized city wall composed of a central arched gateway flanked by two crenellated towers with arched windows; the overall composition is rendered in a bold, high-relief Romanesque style characteristic of Swabian bracteate coinage. The field is unlettered. The design is contained within a beaded inner border, surrounded by an outer border of alternating squares and crosses forming a decorative ring around the entire circumference. |
