Obverse description Crowned half-length frontal effigy of Emperor Frederick II, depicted in imperial regalia, arms extended to either side holding a scepter in the right hand and an imperial orb in the left, the figure set above a rounded arch. Beneath the arch, a lion passant to the left serves as a heraldic support. The design is rendered in the typical thin, high-relief bracteate style characteristic of 13th-century German coinage, with the image struck through from a single die onto a thin silver flan. No legend is present; the field is otherwise plain.
