Obverse description Emperor Frederick II enthroned in full-face majesty, wearing a crown, his robes spread formally across the throne. In his right hand he holds a lily-topped scepter and in his left the imperial orb. A crescent moon appears in the left field. The composition is rendered in the characteristic high-relief, single-sided bracteate technique typical of Thuringian and Saxon imperial coinage of the early thirteenth century.
