Obverse description Central field depicts a seated or enthroned ruler facing front, flanked on either side by a rampant heraldic eagle or bird figure; the composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A retrograde or partially legible Latin legend runs around the periphery of the coin, interrupted by decorative crosses or pellets as dividers. The style is characteristic of mid-13th century Polish bracteate coinage, with bold, schematic relief and compressed figural arrangement. The entire design is rendered in a single-sided thin-flan technique typical of the denier bracteate series of Piast-period Poland.
