Obverse description Mounted knight in combat depicted in dynamic right-facing posture, the rider bearing a raised weapon and shield, seated upon a galloping horse rendered in a vigorous, archaic Romanesque style. Small decorative pellets and subsidiary devices occupy the lower field. The border consists of a partial beaded ring following the irregular flan edge. The composition is characteristic of Polish princely coinage of the mid-twelfth century, with bold relief and schematic figural treatment typical of the Kraków workshop.
