Obverse description Central cross with pellets in each angle, surrounded by a beaded inner circle, all within a circular legend. The cross divides the field into four quadrants, each containing a pellet. The surrounding legend reads +BOLESLAVS DVX, identifying the issuing duke. The design is executed in the Romanesque hammered style typical of early Bohemian coinage, with slightly irregular flan edges characteristic of the period.
