Reverse description The reverse displays a bold pattée cross at center, enclosed within a beaded inner circle from which four groups of pellets radiate into each quadrant between the arms of the cross. The surrounding field carries the mint legend PRAGA CIVITAS in archaic Latin characters, distributed around the circumference between the beaded circle and the coin's irregular edge. The lettering is crudely but firmly engraved, consistent with early medieval Bohemian die-cutting practice. This reverse type, identifying Prague as the place of issue, is among the earliest epigraphic references to the city on coinage. The overall design follows the Carolingian-Ottonian cross-and-legend denier tradition adapted for the Přemyslid duchy.
