Obverse description Central field depicts a rudimentary bust or head in profile facing right, rendered in a crude, stylized manner characteristic of early medieval Polish coinage. The figure is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A partially legible circular legend in debased Latin surrounds the central device, reading BOLEZLA (partially visible and often stylized), with letterforms showing the idiosyncratic engraving typical of hammered deniers of the Piast dynasty. The overall execution is irregular, reflecting the primitive minting technology of the early eleventh century.
