Obverse description Central field features an ornate cross pattée with trefoil or fleur-de-lis terminals, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross arms are elaborately stylized in the Ottonian-Salian hammered tradition, with decorative flourishes at each extremity. The surrounding legend reads BERINGERVS, introduced by a cross patty, running along the outer border of the coin. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of mid-eleventh-century episcopal coinage from the Upper Rhine region.
