Reverse description Frontal facing bust of Saint Peter executed in a highly schematic, archaic style characteristic of 10th-century Papal mint production at Rome. The bust occupies the centre of the flan, rendered with large almond-shaped eyes, stylised facial features, and a nimbus or crown-like element above the head. Abbreviated Latin legend in the field identifying the apostle. The surrounding border consists of a beaded or pellet ring, and the overall die work is deeply cut but crudely executed, reflecting the artisanal hammered technique of the period.
